Great North Run
26 September 2004

The biggest Run was the biggest yet with around 49,000 runners.

It also had the biggest MND Association involvement with around 130 gallant runners for people with MND, compared with about 70 last year.

National Office and the Branch joined forces to provide a fit welcome for the runners. There were 'human signposts' wearing MND Association tabards to guide runners towards the hospitality marquee.

There was a plentiful supply of drinks (hot and cold) to revive the weary and a mountain of food and confectionery.

Two skilled masseuses worked almost non-stop to sooth and loosen stressed leg, back and shoulder muscles.

Our grateful thanks goes to everyone involved in making this one of the biggest fundraising events of the year for MND Association.

First and foremost we thank the runners who have trained over many months (well, most of them did) and travelled the do-it-yourself way from Newcastle to South Shields on this September Sunday.
